Kathu (กะทู้) is a subdistrict of the identically named district in Phuket. Its tin-mining history is interpreted at Phuket Mining Museum on the Kathu–Ko Kaeo road in Village 5, within the former Tho Sung mining area.
Municipal and provincial accounts describe displays on mining methods and the lives of mining communities, connecting this inland locality with an important part of Phuket's history. The tambon is distinct from Kathu District, which also contains Pa Tong and Kamala. Museum access and its entrance location should be checked separately from the administrative reference point.
