About Ko Lon
Ko Lon lies off Phuket's southern coast in Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. It is a lived-in island whose residents have long combined fishing and farming with tourism-related work. The Tourism Authority of Thailand describes community experiences such as batik dyeing with natural colours, making local sweets and squid-fishing outings.
The usual approach is a hired boat from the Rawai coast. A visit is best arranged with a host or operator who can confirm the landing, the activities actually available and a return crossing. A community programme is not the same as an unrestricted drop-in activity; organise it in advance rather than expecting every household to receive visitors.
Respect village life, dress considerately away from beaches and ask before photographing people or their work. Boat conditions depend on the sea and weather, so reconfirm the trip and carry what you need for the day. The island's map point identifies the landform and should not be treated as a specific jetty.
