About Ko Mai Phai (Bamboo Island)
Ko Mai Phai is a small island north of Ko Phi Phi Don, within Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. Its pale sandy shore and surrounding shallow reefs make it a different outing from the developed centre of Phi Phi Don: visitors come by boat for beach time and snorkelling rather than to explore a town.
The island belongs to Ao Nang Subdistrict in Mueang Krabi District, despite being reached on Phi Phi boat itineraries. Boats can be arranged from Phi Phi Don, and some mainland tours include it alongside other Phi Phi stops. Confirm that Bamboo Island is actually included in the itinerary, as it is separate from Maya Bay and requires another sea crossing.
Access is governed by national-park rules and conditions at sea. Check the current landing arrangements and applicable park charges with the park or your operator before departure. Keep off coral, use designated access areas and leave wildlife and shells undisturbed.
