About Sabarang Subdistrict
Sabarang (สะบารัง) is an administrative subdistrict within Mueang Pattani. Its name is also used for a historic community beside the Pattani River, but the community narrative and the full tambon boundary should be kept distinct.
Prince of Songkla University's regional information collection explains the Malay name as referring to the opposite bank. It describes exchange between riverside neighbourhoods, a former market for agricultural products, especially coconuts, and a community linked with traditional kolae fishing boats. These accounts give Sabarang a trading and river-community identity within the modern city.
Explore using the actual street, mosque or meeting place rather than the whole-area pin. Residential lanes and active religious buildings require consideration for local users; permission for an interior visit or photography should be agreed at the site.
