About Suphan Buri
Suphan Buri is a central Thai province with a river-plain capital, older settlement landscapes and western hills. The provincial town offers cultural stops and local food, while U Thong, Don Chedi and Dan Chang are separate areas with different reasons to visit.
Don Chedi Monument is a major historical landmark. U Thong National Museum provides archaeological context, and Bueng Chawak is known for its aquarium and recreation area. Farther west, Phu Toei National Park protects forested uplands. Sali Suphan cake is among the province's familiar local food products.
Organise the trip by area rather than trying to join all the province's attractions in a short visit. A town and museum route, a Bueng Chawak outing and a park stay require different road plans and onward transport. Check museum and aquarium opening information independently from park access. Outdoor conditions vary with rain, and forest routes may require specific arrangements; follow park guidance, carry water and leave time for the journey back.
Suphan Buri Province covers 5,358.01 square kilometres and had 10 districts, 110 subdistricts and 1008 villages at 31 December 2024. Its 2024 registered population was 822,211; this is a whole-province civil-registration count, distinct from the capital city or an estimate of visitors.
November to February generally offers cooler conditions for outdoor visits. The hotter period and the rains bring different travel considerations, with rain usually increasing from around May to October; check current forecasts for your route.
