About Ya Mu Subdistrict
Ya Mu (ยามู) is a subdistrict in Yaring District, Pattani. It contains the historic Yaring locality associated with the former governor's residence and district administration. The tambon is broader than the municipal town area, and is unrelated to Cape Yamu in Phuket.
Yaring's old palace is an important point of orientation and a record of the area's political and cultural history. The town's settlement also relates to Khlong Ya Mu, markets, religious places and neighbourhood streets. Local heritage reflects Malay, Thai and Chinese influences, visible in community history and the palace's architectural setting.
Plan a visit around the particular heritage site or office you need. Access to the palace and private historic buildings should be confirmed with their custodians, while worship spaces have separate visiting expectations. Use a precise entrance for transport and check local conditions along canal-side roads after heavy rain.
