About Cha Kwua Subdistrict

Cha Kwua (จะกว๊ะ), commonly transliterated Jakwa, is a subdistrict of Raman District in Yala. Ban Cha Kwua in Moo 1 is one community within it, with neighbouring villages and agricultural land extending across the tambon. Local accounts connect the name with galangal growing in the area.

The community landscape includes lower ground and wooded or cultivated slopes. In the named village, rubber, longkong, coffee and durian are among the crops documented by the Anthropology Centre. Religious learning, pondok institutions and communal food traditions such as making asura porridge contribute to local cultural life.

Community celebrations follow the Islamic calendar and local invitations, so arrange cultural visits through a host. Confirm the relevant village rather than assuming all activity takes place at the administrative map point. Schools, worship spaces, homes and farms have their own access arrangements; ask before entering or taking photographs and check the final road approach in wet weather.
