Khok Khian is a coastal Narathiwat subdistrict containing Ban Thon, known for fishing communities, traditional kolae-boat craftsmanship and woven products.
The Narathiwat Khok Khian tambon (โคกเคียน) has code 960107. It is distinct from Khok Khian in Takua Pa, Phang Nga. ONEP records Ban Thon as a long-established coastal community where fishing is accompanied by kolae-boat building, model boats and woven reed products. A June 2026 marine-resources report confirms continuing community and conservation activity at Ban Thon beach. These are local characteristics within the wider tambon, rather than evidence that the whole administrative area is one beach attraction.
For craft or fishing-community visits, agree the location and timing with a local host; workshops and working boat areas are not necessarily open as scheduled demonstrations. Ask before entering workspaces or photographing residents. Use the Ban Thon or other village address for the final approach. The tambon reference point is not the location of a particular boat workshop, beach entrance or airport terminal.
