About Lam Phaya Subdistrict
Lam Phaya (ตำบลลำพะยา) is a subdistrict in Mueang Yala District, Yala. It is separate from places called Lam Phaya in Nakhon Pathom. Local university research describes a combination of plains, forested hills and agricultural villages.
Rubber and fruit cultivation, including durian, mangosteen, rambutan and longkong, are part of local livelihoods. Bu Tong waterfall is associated with Ban Thong Lan in village 6. Community research also records a place-name tradition concerning elephants tethered for an earlier Yala ruler; this is oral history, not a claim that the present subdistrict was a royal estate.
Specify the village or waterfall approach when arranging road transport from Yala. Confirm local access and weather before a waterfall visit; farms and orchards require the owner's agreement. Do not confuse this tambon with the better-known Lam Phaya floating-market area in central Thailand.
