About Sako Subdistrict
Sako (สากอ) is a subdistrict in Su-Ngai Padi District, Narathiwat. Its rural communities occupy plains and foothill margins where rubber and fruit growing form part of everyday life. It should not be confused with Sako or Sa Ko in Si Sakhon District, which has a different Thai spelling and administrative identity.
Ban Sue Dae in Moo 7 offers a specific cultural connection: the Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre documents local knowledge of making and preserving bano drums, used in Muslim community traditions and competitions. That village is one part of Sako, not a name for the entire tambon.
Anyone hoping to learn about the instruments should arrange a visit through a local contact rather than expect a permanent museum or daily performance. Give the village name as well as Sako when arranging transport, dress considerately and ask permission before photographing craftspeople or private community activities.
