FAQ

What happens if I overstay a tourist visa in Thailand?

Overstay can lead to fines and, in serious or repeated cases, restrictions on returning to Thailand.

Overview

Overstaying means staying beyond the permitted-until date stamped in your passport. Even a short overstay can create stress, fines and problems at departure. Longer overstays can become much more serious and may affect future entry to Thailand. If you realise you may overstay, deal with it early rather than waiting until departure day. Check your passport stamp, count the days carefully, and speak to immigration or a qualified adviser if your situation is complicated.
