Prioritise road and water risk

Wear seat belts and properly fastened helmets, use the correct licence and never ride impaired. On boats, use a suitable life jacket and follow weather warnings. Do not enter rough water, waterfalls or remote trails simply because an operator or social post makes conditions look easy.

Manage heat, mosquitoes and medicines

Hydrate, pace activity and seek shade during extreme heat. Use mosquito protection day and night. Carry medicines legally in labelled packaging and know where to seek care. Insurance exclusions for motorcycles, alcohol and adventure activities deserve explicit checking.

Make scams less effective

Confirm prices, routes and rental condition in writing. Do not hand a passport over as casual collateral, follow strangers to an unexpected gem or shopping stop, or approve urgent bank transfers from a message. Use official booking channels and verify changed payment details separately.

Prepare for a bad day

Share an itinerary, keep document copies and a backup payment method separately, and save insurer, embassy and emergency contacts offline. Tourist Police 1155 provides multilingual support. Move to a safe public place before resolving a confrontation and contact appropriate authorities for serious incidents.

Verify before you act
