About Ko Kho Khao
Ko Kho Khao lies just offshore from Takua Pa in northern Phang Nga. This record describes the physical island, while the same-named subdistrict is its administrative parent. It is a different destination from Ko Phra Thong farther north.
The west coast has long beach stretches and a dispersed selection of accommodation rather than a dense resort centre. Villages and inland roads form part of the island's everyday landscape, making the choice of arrival point and accommodation location useful when planning a stay.
Passenger boats and vehicle ferries connect the southern end of the island with Ban Nam Khem on the mainland. Confirm the current crossing arrangements and onward island transport, especially if bringing a vehicle or arriving late.
Allow time for the crossing rather than treating the island as a roadside stop in Khao Lak. Check the return service and the conditions for swimming at your particular beach; west-coast sea conditions vary through the year. No fixed ferry times or fares are assumed here.
