Machanu statue
A golden Machanu statue at the Thappraya Road junction near the northern approach to Jomtien Beach, also used locally as the Hanuman intersection landmark.
About Machanu statue
Machanu Statue is the golden figure on Thappraya Road near the northern approach to Jomtien Beach, at reference WV2C+C2R. Local reporting identifies the junction as Machanu intersection and also uses the Hanuman statue name.
Machanu is a character from the Ramakien. The Fine Arts Department explains his relationship to Hanuman and Suphannamatcha in the literary story; this provides cultural context for the name, rather than a construction history for this particular statue. A confirmed installation date and artist were not established.
The reviewed March 2023 photograph shows the golden figure with one arm raised above a basin, surrounded by the junction’s buildings and roadway. It is a useful meeting and directions landmark, with the beach area nearby.
View the statue from a suitable pedestrian position and use designated crossings around the junction. The statue’s traffic setting does not establish pedestrian access onto its central base. Current lighting, water operation and a step-free approach were not independently verified.
