About Wat Huai Yai
Wat Huai Yai is a Buddhist temple in Huai Yai, Bang Lamung. Its own history traces the temple’s foundation to 1643 and identifies the principal Buddha image, chedi and Luang Por Kaan hall as important places within the grounds.
Luang Por Kaan was a former abbot closely associated with the temple’s development. His preserved remains are enshrined in a glass casket in the hall bearing his name. Visitors should approach this as a place of religious veneration and follow instructions on entering and photography.
The temple publicises chanting, blessed-water ceremonies and bang sakun observances associated with merit-making and remembrance. It also welcomes enquiries about ceremonies connected with Pi Chong, a belief concerning inauspicious zodiac years in Chinese astrology. These are religious practices; participation and the appropriate ceremony should be discussed with temple staff.
The temple lists visiting hours of 05:00–20:00. Dress modestly, remove shoes where indicated and avoid interrupting ceremonies. Contact the temple before making a special journey for a particular observance or access to an individual hall.
