FAQ

What should I compare in a Thailand health insurance policy?

Compare usable benefits and contract terms, not only premium: limits, exclusions, waiting periods, deductibles, networks, pre-authorisation, renewability and claims procedures all matter.

Overview

Start with inpatient and outpatient definitions, annual and lifetime limits, room and professional-fee sub-limits, deductibles, co-insurance or copayment, waiting periods and pre-existing-condition rules. Then check chronic care, cancer treatment, mental health, maternity, dental care, rehabilitation, medication, emergency evacuation and geographic cover as relevant to you. Ask which hospitals support direct billing, when prior authorisation is required, what happens outside the network, what documents a reimbursement claim needs, and whether cover and premium can change at renewal. Confirm the maximum renewal age and any right to renew in the actual policy wording. This is a comparison checklist, not a recommendation of a product or medical advice.
