What has changed
Drivers using Motorway 6 should check two separate Department of Highways notices: new access arrangements at Sikhio and Kham Thale So took effect on 2 November, while an M6 connection to the westbound M9 is planned to close from 6 November.
The first change concerns access points in Nakhon Ratchasima. The second concerns the connection towards Bang Bua Thong and is linked to M9 construction work. They affect different parts of the journey.
New access at two M6 plazas
The department’s access notice set the change for 12:00 on 2 November 2026. At Sikhio, the access point on Highway 201 moves from kilometre 5+500 to kilometre 6+000.
At Kham Thale So, the revised traffic arrangement allows cars to continue on the main road into M6 without using the previous side diversion.
The department instructs drivers to use the two right-hand lanes, identified as M-Flow lanes, when passing through the affected plazas. Follow current signs, traffic signals and staff directions as the layout changes.
A separate closure planned for 6 November
In its notice dated 2 November, the department says it plans to temporarily close the M6 exit connecting to the westbound M9 towards Bang Bua Thong, to support construction on M9’s Lat Lum Kaeo–Bang Pa-in section.
The headline gives a planned start of 6 November, but the notice also asks drivers to watch for confirmation of the precise start date and time. Check the latest announcement before a journey that relies on this connection.
Connections the department says remain available
The closure notice lists exits from M6 towards Phahonyothin Road or the eastern M9 as alternatives. It also says traffic coming from the Bang Bua Thong side of M9 can still enter M6 towards Nakhon Ratchasima.
The department expects the connection works to be completed by 31 March 2027. That is a construction forecast, not a confirmed reopening appointment.
For current motorway information, use the Department of Highways hotline on 1586; the access notice directs callers to press 6. The department says the service is free and available around the clock.
