What you need to know
What has changed
Boat operators at Pattaya’s Bali Hai Pier have been asked to keep a designated passenger boarding area clear while a city-appointed contractor builds a new floating pontoon, according to local reporting published on 24 October.
The request matters to travellers using the waterfront for Koh Larn departures. It comes during the 23–25 October holiday weekend, with fresh reporting on Sunday describing busy beaches, tourist areas and travel to Koh Larn.
What the notice covers
Pattaya Mail reports that the city’s Marine Disaster Prevention Division announced the request on 22 October. Operators were asked to relocate vessels from the marked embarkation and disembarkation zone from that date and keep it clear until construction is complete.
The report does not give a completion date, identify a replacement boarding point for every service, or announce a closure of the entire pier. Passengers should therefore confirm their own departure arrangements rather than assuming that every boat uses the same access point.
Holiday crowds add to the planning
In its 25 October report, Pattaya Mail describes international visitors and Thai holidaymakers using Pattaya and Jomtien beaches, with others travelling to Koh Larn from Bali Hai. It also reports traffic building around popular attractions and beach areas. The report provides current holiday context, but no live waiting-time estimate for an individual ferry.
Before heading to the waterfront
As practical advice, ask the operator where to collect tickets and which boarding point to use. Allow walking time between the drop-off location, counter and boat, particularly when travelling with luggage or someone who needs assistance.
Follow the marked pedestrian route and instructions from pier staff, and keep clear of any work area. If a meeting point changes, confirm it directly with the operator before paying for onward transport.
For the return journey, check the last suitable sailing and current departure conditions with the service provider. The pontoon notice establishes a local work-zone clearance request; individual boat arrangements still need to be checked at the pier.
