About Khao Phing Kan

Khao Phing Kan is a limestone island in Ao Phang Nga National Park, within Kalai Subdistrict of Takua Thung District. Its leaning rock faces give the place its Thai name and distinguish the landmass from the slender Ko Tapu stack just offshore.

Setting and highlights

The two features are often promoted together as James Bond Island after their appearance in The Man with the Golden Gun. Visitors stand on Khao Phing Kan to look towards the stack; they are not standing on Ko Tapu itself.

Getting there

Boat excursions reach the island from mainland Phang Nga piers and from other bases around the bay. Check the actual departure point and whether the trip includes a landing, viewing from the boat or additional stops such as Ko Panyi.

Planning your visit

Follow the park's designated landing and visitor routes, and confirm current electronic-ticket and entry requirements. Rocks and steps can be slippery. The map reference identifies Khao Phing Kan itself, not the offshore stack or a surveyed boat-landing entrance.
