About Ko Kai (Chicken Island)

Ko Kai, commonly called Chicken Island, is a physical island in the Ao Nang marine area of Krabi. Ko Poda Nok and Ko Dam Khwan are alternative names used for it. It is not Ko Poda itself and is not a mainland village or business.

Setting and highlights

Its bird-like rock profile is a recognisable boat-viewing landmark. The island is also associated with Thale Waek, where low water can expose sandy connections in the group formed by Ko Kai, Ko Tup and Ko Mor.

Getting there

Boat excursions commonly approach from Ao Nang and combine the surrounding islands. Specify whether your trip includes viewing the rock formation, a water stop or visiting the sandbar area. The tide determines whether a sandy crossing is exposed.

Planning your visit

Do not treat the sandbar as a permanent footpath between islands. Follow local guidance and allow for the incoming tide and boat traffic. Confirm current park access and the actual boat inclusions; fixed hours, fees and facilities are not assumed.
