About Ko Lanta Yai Subdistrict
Ko Lanta Yai (เกาะลันตาใหญ่) is a subdistrict of Ko Lanta in Krabi. Si Raya, commonly called Lanta Old Town, is a historic community within the tambon, identified as Village 2 in official provincial records.
The police's historical account records the district's former civic centre here before its move to Ko Lanta Noi. The old town's coastal setting reflects maritime settlement and trade, described in the environmental-policy office's heritage study. The tambon should not be equated with the whole physical island, whose northern part includes Sala Dan, or with Ko Lanta District's full archipelago.
