About Ko Maphrao (Coconut Island)

Ko Maphrao is the Coconut Island just east of Phuket, in Ko Kaeo Subdistrict of Mueang Phuket District. Phuket's provincial tourism information describes a village based on fishing and agriculture alongside resort accommodation. This is the Phuket island, not the similarly named Ko Maphrao near Chumphon.

Laem Hin is the established mainland boat gateway. The crossing is short, but public boats and property-arranged transfers may use different piers or schedules, so confirm the precise meeting point with your accommodation or boat provider. A hotel shuttle should not be assumed to be a general island ferry.

The island offers a contrast with Phuket Town's road-based sightseeing, with local roads, village life and coastal scenery reached after the sea crossing. Respect residents' homes and working areas and ask before photographing community activities. Check the final return service, tide and weather arrangements before leaving the mainland, especially if you are visiting for only part of a day.
