About this place

Ko Ngam Yai is the larger northern island of Chumphon's Ngam pair. Administratively it belongs to Hat Sai Ri Subdistrict in Mueang Chumphon District and forms part of Mu Ko Chumphon National Park. It is a physical island, separate from the smaller Ngam Noi nearby. TAT describes limestone cliffs, surrounding coral and underwater rock formations, along with the landmark locally called Buddha's Palm. The island also has a history of swiftlet-nest concession activity. Its rocky shoreline and protected status mean that a boat passing the island should not be treated as permission to land or enter concession areas. Choose a coastal boat or diving itinerary that specifies Ngam Yai and the intended activity. Confirm park rules, permitted landing and diving conditions directly with the operator. Marine conditions determine safe water access; no walk-in visitor route, unrestricted cliff access or fixed island facilities are established on this page.
