About this place

Ko Phi Phi Le, also written Phi Phi Leh or Phi Phi Ley, is one of the two principal islands of the Phi Phi group in the Andaman Sea. Its steep limestone walls enclose bays and lagoons, including Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon. Administratively it belongs to Ao Nang Subdistrict in Mueang Krabi District, although a boat trip is needed to reach the island. Maya Bay's beach and Pileh Lagoon are different stops with their own visitor controls. The island is a protected natural feature rather than the built-up visitor base at Phi Phi Don. Choose an itinerary that identifies the actual bays visited, and follow the park's permitted landing, swimming and conservation rules at each stop. Visits are by boat and are subject to marine weather and park access controls. TAT reported that Maya Bay reopened on 1 October 2026 following its seasonal closure, and that Phi Phi National Park uses electronic entry tickets. Confirm the latest park notices, ticket requirements and return arrangements before travelling; reopening does not guarantee access to every bay on every day.
