Ko Tachai lies in the Andaman Sea within Mu Ko Similan National Park, north of Ko Bon and the main numbered Similan islands. Its physical island belongs to Ko Phra Thong Subdistrict in Khura Buri District, rather than to the mainland location of the park office.
Setting and highlights
The island's beach is also wildlife habitat. National-park reports in 2026 describe green-turtle nesting and hatchlings returning to the sea, giving this coast a conservation role beyond its former popularity as a beach excursion.
Getting there
Do not book a trip on the assumption that boats may land here. The park closed the island for restoration and its published reopening preparations did not set a confirmed opening date. The wider Similan park's seasonal reopening does not by itself authorise access to Tachai.
Planning your visit
Ask the park or a licensed operator about the exact activity and location permitted, including whether a proposed offshore dive is authorised. Protect nesting beaches and marine life, and follow ranger instructions; the map point identifies the island, not an approved landing.
