Ko Tup, also written Ko Thap, is a small island in Ao Nang Subdistrict in Krabi. Together with Ko Mor and Ko Kai it forms the setting of Thale Waek, the sea-parting sandbar phenomenon. The neighbouring islands remain distinct places even when sand is exposed between them.
Setting and highlights
At suitable low water, white sand appears through the shallow sea and can connect parts of the island group. At higher water the route is submerged, so the attraction is a changing tidal landscape rather than a permanent walkway.
Getting there
Boat trips from the Ao Nang area commonly combine Ko Tup with the other nearby islands. Choose the travel time with the actual tide and your operator’s guidance; an island map point alone cannot tell you when a crossing is usable.

Return before the incoming tide closes a route and follow restrictions around boat movements and sensitive marine areas. Confirm current park entry arrangements and where your boat will collect you. No fixed daily opening schedule or visitor-facility inventory is asserted.
