About Ko Yao Yai
Ko Yao Yai lies south of Ko Yao Noi in Phang Nga Bay. Both islands belong to Ko Yao District, Phang Nga, but the larger island extends across Ko Yao Yai and Phru Nai subdistricts; the district is the appropriate parent for the whole physical island.
Villages, plantations and a varied coast sit alongside visitor accommodation. Beach areas are dispersed rather than forming one continuous resort town, so choose a base with the distances to your arrival pier and intended outings in mind.
Passenger boats connect the island with surrounding mainland and island piers. Confirm the named Ko Yao Yai landing and arrange a transfer to your accommodation rather than assuming the whole island can be reached on foot from the boat.
Combine coastal stops with respect for working villages and local religious life. Cover up away from swimming areas and ask before entering private land. Sea conditions and tides affect beach use and boat trips, so confirm those details locally instead of relying on a generic island timetable.
