About Kota Baru Subdistrict

Kota Baru (โกตาบารู) is a subdistrict in Raman District, Yala. It is the Thai locality associated with an earlier centre of Raman administration, distinct from Kota Bharu in Malaysia. The present district centre is in the Kayu Boko area, so the historic name does not identify today's district office.

Local institutional records describe cultural knowledge in performance, craft and community traditions. The market neighbourhood is another useful point of orientation: the Anthropology Centre records how trading activity shifted within the settlement and new shops developed around the market area. Historic communities, municipal services and the administrative tambon represent related but different geographic extents.

Plan a heritage visit around a named site or community contact. Museums, old residences and burial places require their own access information, rather than a single opening schedule for Kota Baru. Confirm the full Yala address when arranging travel, and ask permission before photographing private homes or religious and memorial spaces.
