About Sing Buri
Sing Buri is a small central Thai province of river-plain communities and religious heritage. Its name refers to the whole province as well as its capital, so a visit can extend beyond the town to temples and historical places in other districts.
Wat Phra Non Chaksi is known for its large reclining Buddha image, while Wat Phikun Thong and Wat Na Phrathat provide other cultural stops. The province is associated with the memory of the Bang Rachan defenders and with freshwater fish, particularly Mae La catfish. Traditional boat racing is another local association, subject to the current annual programme.
A short road itinerary can link selected temples and historical sites, but check their locations and opening arrangements first. Plan the onward and return journey rather than assuming every important site is close to the provincial centre. Use respectful dress in temples, give ceremonies and worshippers space and carry water for outdoor stops. Check festival programmes directly before travelling for an event and follow local instructions around riverbanks.
Sing Buri Province covers 822.48 square kilometres and had 6 districts, 43 subdistricts and 364 villages at 31 December 2024. Its 2024 registered population was 199,803; this is a whole-province civil-registration count, distinct from the capital city or an estimate of visitors.
November to February generally offers cooler conditions for outdoor visits. The hotter period and the rains bring different travel considerations, with rain usually increasing from around May to October; check current forecasts for your route.
