About Talat Chaiya Subdistrict

Talat Chaiya (ตลาดไชยา) is a subdistrict in Chaiya District, Surat Thani. The district agricultural office records five villages: Talat Chaiya, Songkhla, Pa Yang, Wiang and Lum Chum Saeng.

National Research Council community material identifies Village 1 as the market and present town-centre area beside Chaiya railway station. The settlement has a distinct role from the older coastal community at Phum Riang.

Wat Wiang is recorded in Village 4 of Talat Chaiya; Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya is in the separate Wiang tambon. Municipal boundaries also include parts of neighbouring Lamet, so municipal figures are not automatically whole-subdistrict totals. Use the specific station, market or temple address for travel.
