A former railway site for recreation and learning

Wachirabenchathat Park (สวนวชิรเบญจทัศ), widely known as Rot Fai or State Railway Park, occupies former State Railway of Thailand land in Chatuchak. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration describes a 375-rai public park managed through its Department of Environment. Its named attractions include the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, Wachirabenchathat Sports Centre, an urban forest and a miniature traffic-learning town. The grounds also contain a lake fountain and sculpture. These features give visitors several ways to explore the park, from an exercise visit to an outing focused on nature or children’s learning. For an organised event or filming enquiry, use the BMA public-space service rather than assuming ordinary park entry permits exclusive use. That service identifies separate spaces, including a 3,800-square-metre music lawn and a 2,560-square-metre activity lawn. Park-office enquiries can be made on +66 2 537 9221 or at rotfai.9221@gmail.com.
