Your itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Bangkok and settle in

Morning

Arrival at BKK or DMK
Check the airport code on your ticket. Allow for immigration, baggage and the journey to your actual hotel; a late arrival means deleting the afternoon suggestion, not trying to catch up.

Afternoon

Check in, rest and orient yourself
Locate water, food and the nearest useful transport connection around your booked accommodation. Keep this part of arrival day free of timed admission or a prepaid tour.

Evening

Dinner near your accommodation
Eat close to your base and prepare temple-appropriate clothing for tomorrow. Choose an easy first meal and finish early so the first full sightseeing day starts comfortably.
Day 2

Grand Palace and nearby Wat Pho

Morning

The Grand Palace

The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew form a major royal and religious visitor complex in Bangkok’s Rattanakosin area.

Explore the royal compound and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha as the main morning visit. Allow roughly 2–3 hours, check the official visiting schedule and follow the palace dress code. Leave time to look closely rather than rushing to the next admission.

Afternoon

Wat Pho

Wat Pho is the temple complex beside Bangkok’s Grand Palace, known for its reclining Buddha and traditional Thai learning and massage heritage.

Continue to the nearby reclining-Buddha temple and its courtyards if the group is comfortable with another visit. Allow about 1–2 hours, with admission checked separately. If the heat is tiring, move this visit to another day.

Evening

Unhurried dinner in your Bangkok base
Return by an operating licensed service and keep dinner flexible. Do not make a late river boat the only way home; check current services before relying on a connection.
Day 3

Wat Arun and an evening in Yaowarat

Morning

Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan

Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is a Buddhist temple on the west bank of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, known for its central prang.

Plan a separate morning at the Temple of Dawn. Confirm your river crossing or road approach and the actual entrance. Allow time for steps and crowds, and check access directly if mobility is limited.

Afternoon

Lunch and a proper rest
Return to your base or choose a comfortable lunch stop. Leave this gap between the temple and Chinatown; spending the hottest hours crossing several distant districts adds little to the day.

Evening

Ultimate Bangkok Food Tour

Plan a self-guided Bangkok food tour through Yaowarat, Talat Phlu or Nang Loeng, with practical routes, dishes, transport, dietary questions and food-safety guidance.

Use the linked food guide’s Yaowarat route, starting around Wat Mangkon MRT. Choose a few small tastings and ask about ingredients. Finish early enough to pack for tomorrow; the guide is an independent route, not a booked tour.
Day 4

Fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai

Morning

Check out and go to the ticketed Bangkok airport
BKK and DMK are different airports. Confirm the airline, baggage allowance and check-in cut-off, then allow for the road transfer. This plan assumes a flight; using an overnight train changes the night count and next day.

Afternoon

Arrive at CNX and check in
Keep the whole travel block available for the flight and transfers. A quoted flight duration excludes hotel journeys, check-in and baggage collection. Do not book Doi Suthep or a cooking class immediately after arrival.

Evening

Short local orientation and northern Thai dinner
Explore near your Chiang Mai accommodation and leave the first evening light. A northern Thai meal and a short walk are enough after the transfer. If delayed, save the orientation for tomorrow.
Day 5

Chiang Mai Old City temples and local food

Morning

Wat Chedi Luang (Chiang Mai)

Wat Chedi Luang is an active Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai’s Old City, centred on its large historic brick chedi.

Begin at the historic brick chedi complex on Phra Pokklao Road. Allow around 60–90 minutes to appreciate its scale and courtyards at a gentle pace. Dress respectfully and follow current visitor instructions.

Afternoon

Wat Phra Singh (Chiang Mai)

Wat Phra Singh is a major Lanna Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai’s Old City, including the Wihan Lai Kham and the revered Phra Phuttha Sihing image.

Continue to the Lanna temple on Sam Lan Road, including Wihan Lai Kham where visitor access permits. Both temples are in the Old City; use a short vehicle transfer if heat or mobility makes walking uncomfortable. Leave worshippers space.

Evening

Dinner and an optional Old City stroll
Keep the evening local. A walking-street market is a bonus only if your actual weekday and the current event arrangements match; the itinerary does not promise one every night.
Day 6

Doi Suthep with a central-city fallback

Morning

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is the hilltop Buddhist temple west of Chiang Mai, known for its golden chedi and terrace overlooking the city when visibility permits.

Visit the golden chedi and, when visibility permits, the terrace looking towards Chiang Mai. Arrange a licensed vehicle and return collection; allow roughly a half-day for the road journey and visit. Check weather, air quality and current access before leaving.

Afternoon

Return to Chiang Mai and rest
Have lunch and return to town without adding another remote mountain stop. If conditions rule out the outing, swap this day with the Old City temples or Warorot Market, subject to local conditions.

Evening

Free evening close to your base
Leave dinner open and check the next travel booking. A poor view is a reason to adjust the plan, not to add a distant viewpoint or undertake an unfamiliar scooter trip.
Day 7

Warorot Market and a flexible local afternoon

Morning

Warorot Market (Kad Luang)

Warorot Market, also called Kad Luang, is a long-established Chiang Mai market east of the Old City, with food and everyday goods.

Visit the market east of the Old City in the daytime. Allow around 60–90 minutes to browse, ask about food ingredients and buy only what you can carry. Individual sellers’ hours vary.

Afternoon

A local-interest afternoon or rest
A cooking class or arts workshop can add another perspective on the city. Compare operators, meeting points, duration and dietary or access arrangements before booking. Keeping this afternoon free is equally useful before changing regions.

Evening

Pack and confirm the next flight
Check the Chiang Mai–Phuket service for your actual date, including whether it is direct. If a connection is needed, preserve the whole following day for travel.
Day 8

Travel from Chiang Mai to Phuket

Morning

CNX departure and the booked flight to HKT
Confirm the operating itinerary before fixing accommodation. Direct and connecting options can differ by date; this plan does not claim a daily direct service. Include baggage and check-in in your timing.

Afternoon

Arrive in Phuket and transfer to one base
Phuket Old Town and the west-coast beach areas are separate bases. Use the exact hotel address and a current transfer quote. Keep the afternoon free of another prepaid activity.

Evening

Dinner near your Phuket accommodation
Stay local and rest. Do not connect a flight arrival to a last boat or a sunset excursion; a delay should remove free time rather than an essential reservation.
Day 9

Phuket Old Town and its historic streets

Morning

Phuket Old Town

Phuket Old Town is the island’s historic urban quarter, with Sino-Portuguese shophouses, local food and streets reflecting its trading and tin-mining history.

Use the cooler part of the day for a compact walk among the historic shophouses. TAT highlights the quarter’s architectural and food heritage. Include shade and drinks rather than treating every facade as a required photo stop.

Afternoon

Krabi Road and an optional Thai-Hua Museum visit
TAT identifies the Thai-Hua Museum on Krabi Road as a place to learn about Phuket’s Chinese heritage. Check the museum’s own current opening and admission before choosing it; otherwise make this lunch and an indoor break.

Evening

Return to your chosen Phuket base
Arrange the return if staying at a beach. Do not promise a Sunday walking street on an arbitrary travel date; visit only if the actual weekday and current programme fit.
Day 10

Kata Beach at a slower pace

Morning

Kata Beach

Kata Beach is a west-coast Phuket beach in the Karon area, distinct from neighbouring Kata Noi.

Choose this one west-coast beach outing rather than a circuit of distant beaches. Check flags, lifeguard advice and current sea conditions before entering the water. Swimming is optional.

Afternoon

Shade, lunch and free time
Stay in one area and take a long break in the hottest part of the day. Rough water or persistent rain can turn the plan into a cafe visit or time at your accommodation.

Evening

Local dinner and tomorrow’s conditions check
If considering an optional excursion, confirm the real operator, collection, safety arrangements and cancellation terms. The essential itinerary works without buying a boat trip.
Day 11

Flexible Phuket day or a booked Phang Nga Bay outing

Morning

Check the weather and any booked excursion
A Phang Nga Bay trip is an optional, separately booked full-day outing. Confirm the exact operator, departure pier, route, boarding demands and cancellation arrangements. This template does not promise particular island stops or include a booking.

Afternoon

Follow the confirmed trip, or stay on land
If the marine forecast and operator decision permit the booked outing, follow its actual programme. Otherwise return to Old Town, choose a suitable indoor stop or rest. Do not move a cancelled boat trip to departure morning.

Evening

Final Phuket dinner and packing
Confirm the HKT transfer from your actual accommodation. Leave documents and bags ready and keep the final night flexible.
Day 12

Departure day: protect the onward journey

Morning

Check out and organise the airport transfer
Use the actual departure time and airline requirements for Phuket International Airport (HKT). An early flight means going directly to the airport. Leave time for bags, traffic, check-in and the journey from your booked accommodation.

Afternoon

Onward flight or a generous travel buffer
Do not put an essential attraction or a separate boat connection before the flight. If returning to Bangkok for an international departure on separate tickets, an overnight buffer may be the practical choice.

Evening

Onward travel, or an additional booked night
The standard itinerary ends today and does not include another accommodation night. Add an extra night deliberately if your onward timetable needs it, rather than assuming it is part of the stated plan.
