What has changed

Bangkok has set out a Loy Krathong programme across five main locations from 17 to 29 November 2026, with different date windows for the individual venues.

The city’s official announcement follows a preparations meeting on 29 October. A fresh 31 October report brings the plans into focus for residents and visitors arranging November trips.

Choose the venue and date together

Wat Saket and the Rama VIII Bridge area are scheduled for 17–29 November. At Wat Saket, the accompanying Buddha-relic observances have a shorter 17–26 November period.

Phra Sumen Fort and the two Prem Prachakorn Canal locations are scheduled for 23–25 November. The canal sites are beside Don Mueang Police Station and at Wat Samian Nari.

The overall 17–29 November span therefore does not mean every location has activities on every one of those dates.

Mahakan Fort has its own programme

The city also lists a separate event at Mahakan Fort in Phra Nakhon district on 23–25 November, from 17:00 to 22:00.

Plans there include cultural activities, craft workshops, displays and community products and food. Mahakan Fort and Phra Sumen Fort are different places; check the venue name carefully when arranging a meeting point.

Plan the journey before booking

Use the current city or district announcement for the exact location, daily programme and access arrangements. A festival date range is not a confirmed road-closure timetable or a guarantee of the same activity every evening.

If combining a temple visit with a riverside event, check the requirements and hours for each stop separately. Allow flexibility for the return journey and agree a clear meeting point with anyone travelling in your group.

Follow the city’s environmental guidance

Bangkok is encouraging families to share a krathong and use natural materials, while discouraging bread krathongs and unnecessary pollution. Follow the instructions at the chosen site and use designated access points near the water.

The current development is the publication of the programme. The announced celebrations take place later in November.
