About Ban Mai Subdistrict
Ban Mai (บ้านใหม่) is a subdistrict in Ranot District, Songkhla, with nine villages. It lies in the agricultural lowlands associated with the Songkhla Lake basin.
Water management is central to this landscape. The district agricultural plan describes an irrigation canal serving Ban Mai through neighbouring tambons, using water from the Songkhla Lake system to support cultivation.
The Royal Irrigation Department also records canal maintenance in Ban Mai, including work on the 1R-MC system in March 2026. These records explain the area's working canals and farmland; they do not identify a visitor attraction. This is the Ranot tambon, distinct from the many other places named Ban Mai across Thailand.
