About Ban Rae Subdistrict

Ban Rae (บ้านแหร), often written Ban Hae locally, is a subdistrict of Than To District, Yala. Its council's geographical profile describes mostly steep mountain country, extensive wooded land and several streams, with only a smaller proportion of level ground. These physical conditions help explain the scattered village setting.

The area also appears in cultural research on the Mani people and the Sri Than To family history, which records the community's relationship with the surrounding forest. Such research describes a particular community and historical experience, rather than a visitor attraction or a single way of life shared by everyone in the tambon.

Arrange any community-learning visit through an appropriate local contact and respect residents' decisions about participation. Use a named village and an agreed meeting point for directions. The administrative map marker is not a trailhead or an invitation to enter forest or residential land.
