About Khon Khlan Subdistrict
Khon Khlan (ขอนคลาน) is a subdistrict of Thung Wa District, Satun. Ban Khon Khlan's eastern and western communities lie in Villages 1 and 3, within a wider administrative locality.
The Anthropology Centre describes their estuary setting, extensive mangroves and small-scale fishing livelihoods. It also records community conservation, including mangrove groups and a blue-swimming-crab bank. The local school's history relates an earlier move from a shoreline site affected by erosion, showing how the coast has shaped community settlement.
Arrange any fishing-community or conservation visit with a local host. Working boats, crab-bank activity and mangrove land require site-specific permission and timing. Check the chosen shore or landing place with the organiser; neither an old account nor the administrative reference point guarantees a present boat route or public access through residential space.
