About Ko Chang
This Ko Chang lies offshore from Ranong on Thailand's Andaman coast, within Ko Phayam Subdistrict of Mueang Ranong District. It is not the eastern Gulf destination in Trat Province, despite sharing the same Thai and English names.
Forested inland ground and dispersed beach communities define the island. Its quieter setting suits time on the coast and locally arranged exploration rather than expectations of the road network and resort towns associated with the Trat island.
Arrange a boat from the Ranong area that explicitly names Ko Chang in Ranong. Confirm the destination landing and accommodation transfer, especially when a ticket or search result simply says Koh Chang without a province.
Check current transport and any protected-area restrictions for the specific beach or outing. Ask before entering village or private land, and carry what you need between settlements. Leave flexibility for sea conditions rather than assuming every coastal service operates throughout the year.
