Ko Kam Yai

Ko Kam Yai is a physical island off Kamphuan Subdistrict in Suk Samran District, Ranong. It forms part of the Mu Ko Kam island group described by the Tourism Authority of Thailand within Laem Son National Park. It is distinct from Kam Nui, Kam Tok and the group's other small islands. The Kam group belongs to Ranong's coastal seascape of islands, beach forest and protected marine habitat. Ministry tourism planning identifies Kam Yai as a central island in the group. For orientation, do not confuse Kam Yai with Ao Khao Khwai: TAT places that crescent-shaped bay on Kam Tok, a different island. The park's mainland visitor base is at Bang Ben Beach, and island visits need a boat arrangement appropriate to the intended stops. Ask the park or operator whether Kam Yai itself is included and which landings are permitted. Check seasonal access and marine weather before departure, and confirm food, drinking water and return transport instead of assuming services on the island.
