This Ko Khang Khao lies off the Ranong coast within Laem Son National Park. The marine-resource island inventory assigns it to Na Kha Subdistrict in Suk Samran District; the park's mainland office is elsewhere and is not the island's administrative location.
Setting and highlights
Sandy shore and surrounding reef water make it a familiar boat-excursion and snorkelling stop. The Ranong island should not be confused with Ko Khang Khao in Chon Buri, which has a separate location and access arrangements.
Getting there
Visits are made by boat from the Ranong mainland coast, commonly using park-area operators. Confirm the exact itinerary, departure landing and permitted swimming area with the operator; a park-office address will not take you directly to the island.
Planning your visit
Marine-park access can close seasonally or with rough weather. Check the current Laem Son notice and applicable entry arrangements before travelling. Keep off coral, avoid wildlife feeding and carry back rubbish rather than relying on services on the beach.
