This Ko Kra record represents the main island, Ko Kra Yai, offshore from Pak Phanang in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The wider Ko Kra Archipelago also includes Kra Klang and Kra Lek. The island belongs administratively to Pak Phanang Fang Tawan Ok Subdistrict; it should not be confused with other islands called Kra in Thailand.
The archipelago's Ramsar information sheet describes remote rocky islands about 53 kilometres from the mainland, with steep coastal cliffs and a sandy beach on the main island. Sea-turtle nesting is a major conservation interest. Ramsar recognition applies to the wider designated wetland, not just to the land area represented by this island's map point.
This is a remote conservation location rather than an established walk-in beach resort. The marine-resources inventory identifies Navy responsibility for the Kra islands. Obtain current permission and specialist boat arrangements before planning an approach or landing, and avoid nesting areas and wildlife disturbance. No public ferry timetable, routine visitor facilities or unrestricted island access is established here.
