About Ko Lao Liang Tai

Ko Lao Liang Tai is the southern island of the Lao Liang pair in Ko Sukon Subdistrict, Palian District, Trang. It is also known as Lao Liang Phi, the elder or larger island. The smaller northern island, Lao Liang Nuea or Nong, is a separate place.

Setting and highlights

The twin limestone islands form part of the Mu Ko Phetra marine landscape. The southern island is particularly associated with high cliffs and a longer beach, while published descriptions place the better-known visitor facilities on its northern neighbour.

Getting there

Boat visits are arranged from the Trang coast and through operators familiar with the Lao Liang pair. Confirm whether the itinerary lands on the southern island, the northern island or simply views both from the water.

Planning your visit

Official tourism information distinguishes this island's bird-nest concession and temporary fishing shelters from accommodation on the northern island, and states that tourists may not stay overnight on Phi. Confirm current landing permission and boat return arrangements before travelling.
