Ko Rang is the main island of a reef-rich island group west of Ko Mak, within the Mu Ko Chang marine national park area.

The forested island sits offshore from Ko Mak in Trat. TAT describes the surrounding Rang group as a collection of islands and coral-viewing sites, with a national-park ranger presence on the main island. This record represents Ko Rang itself: nearby rocks, smaller islands and snorkelling sites are distinct features, even when an excursion calls the whole itinerary simply Koh Rang. Its administrative parent is Ko Mak Subdistrict, not Ko Chang town.

A snorkelling stop beside a neighbouring rock is not necessarily a landing on Ko Rang.
