About Mu No Subdistrict

Mu No (มูโนะ), often written Muno or Munok, is a subdistrict in Su-Ngai Kolok District, Narathiwat. Ban Muno in Moo 1 is its best-known market community, set beside the river forming the Malaysian boundary. The market and village occupy only part of the wider tambon.

The Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre describes a long trading tradition, family links across the border and local Malay Muslim cultural life. Food traditions and craft knowledge, including decorative birdcage making, are part of this community setting. A visit should allow room for everyday village life rather than treating the whole area as a shopping complex.

Confirm the current market arrangements and your actual meeting point with a local contact. If your plans continue towards Malaysia, confirm that separate journey and its current crossing arrangements before departure. Dress considerately, ask before photographing people and worship, and check the road approach before departure.
