About Pak Chan Subdistrict
Pak Chan (ปากจั่น) is a subdistrict of Kra Buri in Ranong. Fine Arts Department investigations at the Pak Chan archaeological site identified evidence of early connections across the peninsula, including material linked with the Khao Sam Kaeo area on the Gulf side.
The department interprets the finds within a wider network of maritime and overland exchange, rather than as an isolated local settlement. This historical context belongs to an archaeological site within the tambon; it does not establish a currently open visitor excavation. This is Pak Chan in Ranong, distinct from the identically named tambon in Ayutthaya.
