About Sa-Ae Subdistrict
Sa-Ae (สะเอะ) is a subdistrict of Krong Pinang District in Yala. Its communities sit within the Pattani River landscape, with cultivated land, forest and hills around the settled areas. Ban Sa-Ae, documented across Moo 3 and Moo 6, is a community within this larger tambon.
Local history connects the name with an Arabic honorific and an account of traders and religious teachers arriving by boat. Malay is used alongside Thai, and family networks, farming and Islamic community life remain important to its identity. The area also contains district-level public services, so an address described simply as Krong Pinang may actually be in Sa-Ae.
Plan an arrival around a named village, office or host rather than the subdistrict map reference. For community learning or farm visits, arrange a meeting in advance and ask about the appropriate clothing and timing. Check river-side and minor-road conditions after prolonged rain.
