About Surin Islands

Surin Nuea and Surin Tai are the main islands, accompanied by smaller islands including Ri, Khai and Klang under alternative local names. They belong to Ko Phra Thong Subdistrict in Khura Buri District. The geographic group is distinct from Mu Ko Surin National Park, whose marine protection also covers sites beyond the immediate islands. Community visits should respect Moken residents and their living culture.

Arrange the crossing through a permitted operator and confirm the actual mainland departure point, park booking and any overnight arrangement. Reef stops and community visits depend on the permitted itinerary and conditions. The government-announced 2026 seasonal closure ran from 15 May to 15 October; check for newer instructions before assuming every site is operating. Use responsible guides, keep clear of coral and ask permission before photographing residents.
