About Yala Subdistrict

Yala (ตำบลยะลา) is a subdistrict in Mueang Yala District, Yala Province. The name therefore has several administrative meanings. Provincial history identifies Ban Yala as an early town location before later moves towards Tha Sap, Sateng and the present city area.

The Land Development Department treats the tambon as its own land-use planning unit. Government water-project records identify Ban Yala in village 1 and Ban Ku Bae in village 2 as farming communities served by rice-irrigation improvements. These village references help distinguish the historic rural area from the province-wide destination called Yala.

Include the tambon, district and village when arranging transport; asking only for Yala can lead to the modern city or province generally. Visits to farms and water-management facilities should be agreed with a local host. The administrative point is not a historic town gate or an attraction entrance.
