What you need to know
What has changed
People planning a weekend in Hua Hin should check the forecast again before leaving. The Thai Meteorological Department’s warning issued at 05:00 on Wednesday, 4 November, expects rain to increase across southern Thailand from Saturday to Monday, 7–9 November, with heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some places.
What the local forecast says
Hua Hin Today reported on Tuesday that parts of Prachuap Khiri Khan were covered by the earlier weather warning. The Hua Hin forecast it published showed rain across about 30% of the forecast area on Thursday, 40% on Friday and 60% each day from Saturday through Monday. Those percentages describe the expected area covered. Conditions at an individual beach, neighbourhood or venue will vary.
The national warning covers 5–9 November overall, with the latest bulletin highlighting 7–9 November for the increase in southern rainfall. The department warns that rain accumulating over time may cause flash floods or fast runoff, particularly on low ground and near streams below hills.
Check road and boat plans separately
Keep some flexibility around outdoor plans and check local conditions before driving through areas prone to flooding. If an event is part of the trip, ask its organiser for any changes to access or timing.
For trips on the Gulf, the department says waves can exceed two metres in thunderstorms and advises boats to avoid those areas. Confirm conditions and departures with the operator before travelling to the pier. The department’s weather hotline is 1182, and the local forecast is linked below.
