About Ko Mor

Ko Mor, also written Ko Mo, is the small island at Thale Waek near Ko Thap and Ko Kai on Krabi's Ao Nang island route. When the tide is sufficiently low, exposed sand links the islands; at higher water the same route is covered. The appeal is the changing seascape and the contrast between low limestone islands and the pale sandbar.

Trips usually combine this area with Ko Poda and other stops reached by long-tail or tour boat from the Ao Nang coast. Ko Mor is an island in its own right; Thale Waek is the wider sandbar phenomenon. It should also not be confused with another island named Ko Mo in the Ko Lanta area.

Arrange the visit around the actual tide and the boat crew's advice rather than a fixed walking timetable. Do not cross a channel simply because other people are doing so: water depth and currents change, and the return walk may be submerged. Follow national-park instructions and confirm the return boarding point.
