About Lo Chut Subdistrict
Lo Chut (โละจูด) is a southern subdistrict of Waeng District on the Thai–Malaysian border. The Anthropology Centre's community profile places it beside the Golok River, across from Tanah Merah in Kelantan. Forested terrain associated with the Sankalakhiri mountains and the Hala–Bala landscape forms part of its wider setting.
The community profile records a predominantly Malay Muslim cultural context and a local naming tradition involving an elephant escaping its chain. That account is oral heritage, rather than a documented account of the subdistrict's establishment. Lo Chut also contains localities administered by Buketa municipality, whose boundary is smaller than the whole tambon.
A river border is not a general crossing point: use an authorised checkpoint and confirm current requirements separately. For a village or forest-area visit, arrange the exact route and any permissions with the relevant local contact.
